Latchwork — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

Latchwork ("the app") is a daily word puzzle game. This page explains what data the app collects, why, and what control you have over it.

The short version

Latchwork has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Your game progress and statistics are stored only on your own device. Data leaves your device when you choose to share a result or friend invitation; make a request to download that day's puzzle file; a message you choose to send us through “Send feedback”; and — on iOS/Android only, if you choose to buy a hint pack — a purchase record handled by Apple, Google, and our payment processor RevenueCat.

What the app stores on your device

Other than information you explicitly choose to share, none of this is sent to us or to any third party. It stays on your device using standard platform storage (localStorage on web, UserDefaults/SharedPreferences on iOS/Android via the Capacitor Preferences plugin) and is stored only on this device — it is not synced across devices and is deleted if you clear the app's data or uninstall it. We have no way to see, recover, or delete it for you, because we never receive it.

Daily reminders and the home-screen widget (Android app)

If you turn on the optional daily reminder, the app asks Android for permission to show notifications and schedules a few local notifications on your phone at the time you choose. They are created and shown entirely on your device; nothing about them is sent to us or to anyone else, and you can switch them off in the app or in Android's settings at any time. The optional home-screen widget shows today's puzzle number and your streak, read from the statistics already stored on your device. It sends nothing anywhere.

Asking for a rating (Android app)

After a particularly good result the Android app may ask whether you are enjoying Latchwork. If you say yes, Google Play's own review sheet opens; what you do there is between you and Google and is governed by Google's privacy policy. Latchwork does not receive your rating or any information from that sheet. We remember on your device only that we asked, so we do not ask too often, and a "not really" answer stops the question for good.

Sharing a friend challenge

If you choose to share an invitation, its link contains the puzzle date and version, your optional name, and your first-attempt result (win/loss, lives, hints and starting help). It contains no puzzle answers or lifetime statistics. Anyone with the link can read and forward it. Names and scores are kept in the URL fragment, which is not included in ordinary requests to the web server. The messaging app or share destination you choose handles what you send under its own privacy policy. There are no friend accounts or cloud leaderboards.

What the app fetches from our servers

Each day, the app downloads that day's puzzle as a plain static file from our content delivery network. This request does not include any account identifier — there is nothing to identify you by, because the app has no accounts.

In-app purchases (iOS and Android apps only)

The web version of Latchwork has no purchases. On the iOS and Android apps, optional hint packs are sold through Apple's App Store or Google Play and processed by RevenueCat, a third-party payment infrastructure provider. RevenueCat receives purchase records (product purchased, price, and a device-generated identifier) in order to validate your purchase and restore it if you reinstall the app. We do not receive or store your payment details — those are handled entirely by Apple/Google.

When you send feedback

The app has a “Send feedback” form on the main menu and in Settings. It is entirely optional, and nothing is sent unless you write a message and tap send.

When you do send one, we receive the message you wrote, the app version, your platform (Android, iOS or web) and the number of the puzzle you were on — so that a bug report makes sense without us having to ask. If you fill in the optional email field, we receive that address too, so that we can reply; leave it blank and we have no way to identify or contact you.

Feedback is delivered to the developer by email and is not used for advertising, profiling or any automated decision-making, and is not shared with anyone else. To have a message you sent deleted, write to the contact address below.

Children's privacy

Latchwork has no accounts and collects no personal information about you as you play. The one exception is the optional email address you may type into the feedback form, which is only ever collected because you chose to type it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we ask that children do not put an email address into the feedback form. The game is rated for a general audience.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.

Contact

Questions about this policy can be sent to the developer contact listed on the app's store listing. To delete your data, follow the steps on Delete your Latchwork data.
